RentGlass.com Now Renting Nikon
I dont know when they started renting Nikons glass, but they are now.
RentGlass.com is a online based company that you can rent good quality lenses for your Canon and now Nikon cameras. They offer a good choice of some top professional lenses.
If your looking to try out a lens before you shell out the money, or need to fill out your arsenal of equipment for a shoot, this is the place to go.
I used them to shoot my sisters wedding back in June. I only have a 28-80mm lens for my Canon DSLR, and so I wanted to get something wider and longer. And if I could get the really nice professional L series glass… all the better. And so I ordered the friday afternoon a week before the wedding, a 17-40L and 70-200L and tuesday I got a note on the door saying that the package would be at the post office becuase they need a signature. Oh and I had placed two seperate orders at the time (you can order multiple lenses on one order, I just happened to place one order and then saw another lens was available) and later that night I got an email from RentGlass saying that they would bundle and ship the two orders together and save on shipping charges. Awesome and very nice of them to do that!
You get the lens nicely packed and clear instructions on how and when to return your rental glass. They provide the shipping envelope pre-paid and you just simply pack it all back in the materials it shipped with, put it in the new bag, and send it off.
The quality of the lenses were great. No stratches on the glass or even on the body.
So if you want to try out lens or need something special for a gig… definately give them a try. I am definately going to use them again when needed.
I suggest however… if you do decide to use them, pick out a lens and get on the email list for notifications. Most likely if you go there, they will be out, but you’ll get an email when they do get it back… and its usually in the evenings (around 4-5pm) :) so when you get the email jump on it quick… before someone else rents it.
